Chapter 9: Changing Families

Yes, things will change in Nazli’s family after this wedding. A new member has been added to the family, and Nazli now has a new sister-in-law.

Yes, there will be changes in the home from where the new bride has come. Her family members will miss her a lot at home. The family should now put more effort into compensating for the ways in which she was contributing to her family.

(b) Talk to your mother and aunts in the family. Ask them about where they lived before they got married.

They lived with their parents and siblings before marriage.

(c) Who were the members in their families then?

In my mother’s family, she, her mother, her father, one sister and one brother lived together before her marriage.

(d) Has anybody in your family been married recently? Who?

Yes, my cousin got married recently in my family.

A variety of traditional foods was cooked, along with sweets, during the wedding.

(b) What special clothes do the bride and bridegroom wear?

The bride wore a beautiful lehenga and choli with a blue dupatta. The bridegroom wore a classy Shervani and pagri.

(c) What kinds of songs and dances are performed at weddings?

At weddings, traditional, folk, melody and modern songs and dances are performed.

I noticed that the house and pandals were decorated with flowers and lights. Photographers are roaming around to click photos and capture videos. A wide variety of food and sweets were made and served to the guests. Everyone looked amazing, as they wore new clothes. Fireworks were also arranged.
